Formation of Magnetic Flux Rope During Solar Eruption. I. Evolution of Toroidal Flux and Reconnection Flux

چکیده

Magnetic flux ropes (MFRs) constitute the core structure of coronal mass ejections (CMEs), but hot debates remain on whether MFR forms before or during solar eruptions. Furthermore, how flare reconnection shapes erupting is still elusive in three dimensions. Here we studied a new MHD simulation CME initiation by tether-cutting magnetic single arcade. The follows whole life, including birth and subsequent evolution, an eruption. In early phase, partially separated from its ambient field quasi-separatrix layer (QSL) that has double-J shaped footprint bottom surface. With ongoing reconnection, arms two J-shaped footprints continually separate each other, hooks J expand eventually become closed almost at eruption peak time, thereafter fully un-reconnected QSL. We further evolution toroidal compared it with reconnected flux. Our reproduced pattern increase-to-decrease flux, which reported recently observations variations ribbons transient dimming. increase owing to phase transforms sheared arcade twisted lines, while decrease result between lines interior later phase.

Catastrophic eruption of magnetic flux rope in the corona and solar wind with and without magnetic reconnection

It is generally believed that the magnetic free energy accumulated in the corona serves as a main energy source for solar explosions such as coronal mass ejections (CMEs). In the framework of the flux rope catastrophe model for CMEs, the energy may be abruptly released either by an ideal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) catastrophe, which belongs to a global magnetic topological instability of the sys...

Pulsating Magnetic Reconnection Driven by Three-Dimensional Flux-Rope Interactions.

The dynamics of magnetic reconnection is investigated in a laboratory experiment consisting of two magnetic flux ropes, with currents slightly above the threshold for the kink instability. The evolution features periodic bursts of magnetic reconnection. To diagnose this complex evolution, volumetric three-dimensional data were acquired for both the magnetic and electric fields, allowing key fie...

Flow instabilities of magnetic flux tubes III. Toroidal flux tubes

Context. The stability properties of toroidal magnetic flux tubes are relevant for the storage and emergence of magnetic fields in the convective envelope of cool stars. In addition to buoyancyand magnetic tension-driven instabilities, flux tubes are also susceptible to an instability induced by the hydrodynamic drag force. Aims. Following our investigation of the basic instability mechanism in...

Reconnecting flux-rope dynamo.

We develop a model of the fluctuation dynamo in which the magnetic field is confined to thin flux ropes advected by a multiscale model of turbulence. Magnetic dissipation occurs only via reconnection of the flux ropes. This model can be viewed as an implementation of the asymptotic limit R_{m}-->infinity for a continuous magnetic field, where magnetic dissipation is strongly localized to small ...
